Costal Sailing was commissioned by a collector who wanted the book or books pictured in the artwork to be about sailing. Initially we were very attracted to two volumes by British boat designer Ufa Fox, but in the end chose a book by Alfred F. Loomis published in 1939, Ranging the Maine Coast.
